We arrived at 12h30 on Christmas day and we were welcomed by a very friendly hostess. Our itress Helè soon brought us our menus and she s just as friendly. She gave us a few minutes to decide what we nted.
We ordered wine and food off the tapas menu. I must admit the food did take a little long but Helè apologized a few times letting us know the kitchen s quite busy.
We were not going to let this spoil our day. We sat, drank wine, enjoyed the beautiful view and bonus there s live music.
Once the food came we enjoyed every single item, could not fault anything. We ordered cheesecake for dessert. I have to say, I think it might be one of the best cheesecakes I've ever had.
We will definitely be back.
This s our last stop of our Three region Wine tour yesterday. This is a very beautiful wine estate. The mood is very relaxing and the views are like a perfect postcard. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The wine and dessert pairing s really delicious.
Beautiful place but the service is very very poor. Never received service this poor ever anywhere else. We made a reservation for 14H15 by 15:10 we were still not fully served. They don’t accompany you to your seats. We had to it long for our wine tasting menu. Before we received the wine tasting menu we got a wrong menu(food menu and full bottle menu). There is only one person doing the wine tasting, even he didn’t pitch to l us about our options. A regular iter came and said we are gonna it a while longer because a bus of people is gonna come for tasting as well. The glasses they gave us were dirty as well. We decided to order full bottles but we only received ice with ter to put our bottles in. We did not get any ice to drink with our wine. Even the manager were not much help at all. Overall very poor.
We spent a lovely half day at Rhehokskloof, enjoying a picnic for our party of 9 under the trees and beside the dam. Roxanne and Marlin took care of us and were incredibly attentive, obliging and hospitable.
The food s fresh (rm pull-apart bread!), sumptuous and definitely good value for money. The kitchen also accommodated our two kiddies with their food allergy needs.
Our picnic set up s more than adequate - with a choice of chairs and tables plus freshly laundered picnic blankets.
There is plenty of space and the children were able to freely roam, swing and play. The wine tasting with desserts s graciously done by Wesley.
The only reason why this is a 4-star review is because there were a few issues with missing or incorrect items in the boxes. But that s quickly resolved once raised. So, a bit more care in the kitchen before the boxes leave will make it a perfect day out.
Recommended.
My girfrield and I visited yesterday as a spur of the moment decision to check out the wedding venue. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We met the lady at the front desk who s very friendly (never caught her name) and met Bruwer who is a stand up guy! We ended up staying for a wine tasting, which Jeremiah led with professionalism and good sesne of humour. The real South African spirit! We weren't there very long but this place gets my 5 stars.
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this farm. We haven't visited here before and they went out if their y to accommodate us despite us not booking for the wine tasting. We had the wine and pudding pairing and bar 1 I thought they were excellent. The wines were reasonable priced and Wesley s a great host. We didn't eat there but the food looked stunning.
We will be back...
So glad we discovered this winery, just around the corner from a couple classic Paarl destinations. We had the tiny dessert & wine pairing, which s wonderful & very creative, but will return soon for the cheese and wine pairing, and there's also a chocolate and wine offer.
The setting is lovely. We could not have been welcomed more rmly and highly recommend a visit.
We arrived with no booking and they went out of their y to accommodate us. We did the desert and wine pairing which s delightful the deserts ans wines were so well matched and complemented each other perfectly. The best part of the day s our sommelier Wesley who s extremely entertaining and had us laughing and interacting while learning a lot about the wines. All round a fantastic outing.
Came for a private event but unfortunately half of the tables did not have an umbrella and I sn’t ready to burn in the sun. This meant we could not do the wine tasting. The decorations on the table (beautiful) blew away with light wind; they should know better and should have utilized a more stable base. The meat served s raw and could not eat it either. Grounds are otherwise beautiful.
We arrived at 12:30pm and only managed to order around 12:45. What followed s nothing short of a disaster. We ited 4 hours for starters, only to then be told that half of our order sn’t even available. When the food finally arrived, it s oily, drowning in salt, and completely inedible.
Our mains only showed up an hour and a half after that, and were just as terrible — tasteless and poorly prepared. Someone at our table had to send their steak back three times, and even then it still sn’t right.
The only decent item we had s the dessert, and honestly I’m not even convinced it s made on-site.
This s supposed to be a special Christmas meal with family who travelled all the y from Johannesburg and Cyprus. Instead, it turned into a frustrating, embarrassing, and deeply disappointing experience.
I would never set foot here again and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Such a ste of time, money, and a day that should have been memorable for the right reasons.
