About this supplier

The Living Room Jozi is an eco-urban rooftop venue in the vibrant Maboneng Precinct of Johannesburg, Gauteng. Described as a unique blend of the natural and the urban, it offers a lush, serene terrace surrounded by panoramic views of the city. The venue positions itself as Joburg’s premier eco urban venue and an “urban oasis”, giving guests a distinctive setting where thriving greenery meets a majestic cityscape.

The space began in 2012, born from a desire to participate in the urban revival of inner-city Johannesburg. With roots in landscape design and a love of plant life, The Living Room Jozi s created as a tranquil rooftop sanctum for the public to enjoy. Its setting is designed to show how plant life can be integrated into an urban habitat, making it especially appealing for hosts who nt a venue with atmosphere, natural texture and a strong sense of place.

The venue caters for a broad mix of occasions, from public parties and table bookings to exclusive venue hire, corporate events, wedding ceremonies and receptions, press launches, private celebrations, and photo or film shoots. Its open-air rooftop jungle feel makes it suitable for both relaxed social gatherings and more curated hosted events, with the city skyline and greenery providing a memorable backdrop for guests and content creators alike.

For functions, The Living Room Jozi can support more than just the venue space. Event enquiries allow hosts to request catering, décor and entertainment, helping to shape a more complete experience around the occasion. The site also highlights décor and design as part of the wider offering, which suits clients looking for a cohesive event environment rather than a bare venue-only booking.

Food and drinks are a key part of the venue experience. The Living Room Jozi describes its food style as fresh and fabulous, with simple delectable meals and eclectic tapas, paired with signature cocktails and smoothies. For private functions, the catering chefs can prepare a tailor-made menu, giving hosts the opportunity to match the food to the tone of their event.

The venue’s emphasis on guest experience comes through strongly in its own messaging and client feedback. A corporate year-end function testimonial praises the team for assistance, fun, great food, excellent service and accommodating staff, and describes the venue as one of the most unique. The Living Room Jozi also notes that it follows strict hygiene protocols and operates as a cash-free establishment.

For hosts browsing TimeToParty for an adult venue in Johannesburg, The Living Room Jozi is a strong option for rooftop celebrations, corporate functions, weddings, launches and shoots in Maboneng. After we were stranded in a completely wrong rooftop bar - which we quickly left before the bad vibe did us any permanent damage - we ended up here. Jackpot. Berlin minimal tech house in the air, a green oasis instead of a concrete jungle, plus a view of Johannesburg that almost makes you forget that we're not in Cape Town. The prices were a dream. The service s friendly, fast and without a hipster attitude. DJing here is definitely just as much fun as coming here as a music lover.

It’s such a lovely spot — a reminder of how beautiful Joburg is, and how stunning downtown could be if well maintained.

This s my introduction to the Maboneng Precinct and to The Living Room. My friends however, had been here before, so it s decided that we would enjoy lunch here, after a fascinating and informative tour of Ponte Tower (my review is available on Google maps). Seeing parts of Jozi having a renewal and revival is heartening. This place offers good food, drinks and vibes and you can spend a good portion of your day and night just chilling with friends. A DJ is on the decks which really adds to the atmosphere.
The food and drinks were enjoyable and there s plenty to choose from, even for the vegan in our group, with a few changes to suit his requirements.
The menu is modern pan African and this little twist lends itself to the cocktails as well.

We visited Living Room Sunday, January 7th We arrived around 1:30 p.m. and stayed till 6:00 p.m. I think. We had hummus which s delicious, different than I'm used to but very good. You should try it. We also had their cappuccinos which were delicious and they had cool designs on them. Always a plus in my book. We ended up changing seats three times, our server didn't even mind. I think she s the server to the entire room and she s phenomenal! We moved three times? Yes, we arrived and sat at one table but when space opened up at the chairs facing the view outside we moved over there. There's a gorgeous view of the city and so many pictures to be taken. However, it started raining so we moved back away from the window. We had come for Feel Good Sundays, to hear DJ 2Lani the rrior spin. He s awesome! And Living Room s awesome. Very welcoming. I loved all the plants, everything s so green! I'll definitely try to make my y back before I head back to the US.

Beautiful venue, with great views over the city. Parking can be a bit of a problem and the food is ok‘sh - perhaps the iter should not ask how the steaks should be done, if all of them arrive medium to well. Still well worth a visit though.

If I could rate with 0 I would do that.
We had our company year end function there and all s pre-organised and communicated - but it s a disaster!
Our welcome drink s put on the bar counter 1.5 hours after all guests arrived. The food s not enough (and not even on time!) - it s a total of 44 plates for more than 60 people - so people had to share plates. The bathrooms were disgusting - still dirty from the night before, no light, no soap nothing - and we started from 11H00 onwards - so more than enough time to prepare for an event. The promised Mic that we needed for a speech went missing and luckily the DJ made it work with what they had (almost nothing! although the promises were different).
It s a disaster and I would stay away from them! They didn't understand the lack of service they had.

Great space, though it gets hot at sunset . They do have hand held umbrellas to navigate it, and once the sun goes, you're good. Cocktails are great. Cool place for sundowners. Meat platter s generous and enough for 4 people .

Good vibes and beautiful people. It s such an awesome experience to be at this jawn. The DJs really kept us dancing and entertained. This jawn has an awesome view of Jozi and the Maboneng precinct. Their toilets are clean and the security is tight. Please note that you're going to be charged an entrance fee between R30 - R50

Oh Living room s a dream. The place is small maybe about 10 tables... The entrance is typical of Maboneng eateries. Up a lift to the 5th floor.. once there, there s a cute ll for pictures. Inside the actual restaurant. We quickly got the meaning of the name. The living room, is really alive. With greenery planted all along the ll, and next to most tables. The food s delicious, really fresh. Great value for Money..
The nice touch s the books they used to bring the bill, suddenly we were running pages trying to find the names of the flowers that were placed on our plates when we ate.
Most of their meals cater for vegetarians. The music is very indie alternative music...
It's a very relaxed chilled vibe. Would definitely recommend for light lunch before you go out to Bob your head else where.
