Breakout Quest is an escape room provider located in Boardwalk Mall, Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, with additional venues in Sun City, Wild Coast, and Cape Town. The company offers immersive, private 60-minute escape room experiences designed for friends, families, and corporate groups. Each game features themed environments where participants solve puzzles, codes, and clues under time pressure, with options suitable for varying skill levels and age groups.
The range of escape rooms includes both indoor and outdoor city-based quests, such as Operation Mindfall and Magic Portal, which combine urban exploration with interactive challenges. Themes vary from adventure and mystery to family-friendly storylines, avoiding jump scares and focusing on teamwork, logic, and communication. Breakout Quest also caters to corporate clients with tailored team-building activities that emphasise collaboration and leadership.
Customer feedback highlights engaging puzzles, well-decorated rooms, and friendly staff, though some reviews note occasional issues with clue placement and communication during games. Online booking and lk-in reservations are available, and the venue supports birthday celebrations with private sessions allowing for decorations and cake.
Breakout Quest delivers immersive escape room experiences across South Africa, offering private missions that challenge teamwork, logic and communication. Designed for friends, families and corporate groups, each game places players inside a themed environment where clues, codes and puzzles must be solved against the clock.
With venues in Sun City, Wild Coast, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town, the brand makes it easy for groups in different regions to take on a shared challenge. Sessions are always private, so teams are never grouped with strangers. Most games run for about 60 minutes, though some titles differ, and each room lists storyline, difficulty, player capacity and duration to help guests choose the right fit. Both online booking and lk-in reservations are supported.
Breakout Quest’s catalogue spans a wide range of storylines. Themes include Hunted, Save the Rhinos, Ghostship Quest where teams are trapped on a ghost ship, Cargo Hold which begins with a hijacked plane, Prison Break that puts wrongly imprisoned teams against the clock, and Taken which starts with participants handcuffed and blindfolded. Tech-driven missions expand the format further, such as Operation Mindfall where players breach the servers and shut Spider Tech down, and Magic Portal which sends teams to find crystals, seal the gate and save humanity.
The line-up is not limited to traditional indoor rooms. Operation Mindfall and Magic Portal introduce outdoor, city-based play that blends exploration with interactive challenges. These adventures suit groups who enjoy moving through urban spaces while working together on shared objectives, and they add variety to the overall experience mix.
Most rooms are family friendly, with puzzle-led gameplay and immersive storytelling rather than jump scares. For guests who prefer gentler themes, options such as Alice in the Wonderland in Wild Coast emphasise discovery and whimsical problem solving. Difficulty levels are available for first-timers and experienced players, making the venue suitable for mixed-ability groups, casual outings and birthday celebrations.
Corporate clients can integrate Breakout Quest into team-building programmes across South Africa. Activities are designed to encourage clear communication, collaborative problem solving, decision making and leadership under time pressure. Depending on group size, teams can book private sessions for smaller squads or run staggered multi-room circuits for larger headcounts, with guidance on difficulty selection to keep mixed-experience groups engaged.
Practical considerations are thoughtfully handled. Doors remain unlocked for easy access and exit, and players may keep s with them, although recording inside the rooms is not permitted. The format delivers a focused, time-bound challenge, with most missions set at around an hour, and options available in multiple cities to suit different schedules and preferences.
Combining varied narratives, private sessions and both indoor and outdoor formats, Breakout Quest offers a versatile platform for social outings, birthdays and company events. Its multi-city presence, family friendly options and team-building frameworks make it a compelling choice for groups seeking a shared, puzzle-filled adventure in South Africa.

This s my first escape room experience, and it exceeded my expectations. The puzzles were challenging without being overwhelming, and the overall experience s exciting and well-organized. It s genuinely the most fun I’ve had in a while, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something different and enjoyable.
We had the best experience at Breakout Quest!! Definitely a must if you are looking to do something fun and exhilarating. Thanks to the team of Breakout Quest for also making the experience so much fun :) We will be back!
Amazing fun, great game masters, and super kind and helpful. Truly loved every minute! Will be going back to try the other rooms for sure.
Had just a little bit of fun. They said we can ask when we need help but every time we asked the lady would not answer. She would then randomly speak when we don’t ask. She would ask us if we found something yet we found it like 10 minutes ago. The mic s soft, we could barely hear her. When we ask her to repeat, she wouldn't repeat. The clues could've been a bit easier as they were bit confusing considering one led to the room we thought we finished and then another led us back to the other room etc.
The game is well thought out and interesting
Clues are good. However the lkie talkies are indistinguishable and some of the clues were not where they should have been. Whiteboard marker dry. For the price these things should be given attention.
A group of us did Ghostship today and we had a BOAT load of fun! The ladies that work there were so friendly and the puzzles were so engaging. 10/10 cant it to do the next one
What a great experience. Loads of cryptic clues and the rooms we were in were decorated so well it felt like an old ship. Definitely doing this again!
Absolute blast at the breakout quest! The staff is friendly and helpful too! We had so much fun! Can't it to try the other rooms.
