The first Persian Restaurant in Johannesburg if I am not mistaken. It’s a small establishment in a centre surrounded by restaurants right next to Kokoro a Korean supermarket.
Persian cuisine is one of the finest cuisines in the world with a mix of vegetables, meat, fish accompanied by Saffron rice and different breads. The menu here is limited with a focus on Kebabs (Shashlik) and some vegetarian starters as well as a dish ed Ghormeh Sabzi which is a meat and vegetable stew. Notable items like Fesanjan which is a sweet and sour stew with Chicken meatballs are missing. Coming to the food, the kebab dishes are very delicately flavored and are quite big portions. The Iranian tea is a treat, a black tea served with saffron sugar. Unfortunately they didn’t have any traditional Iranian desserts to try. They also have some retail items like nuts, condiments, spices and cordials that are used in Persian cuisine.
The restaurant s quiet on both occasions , service s good and food came out quite quickly. Restaurants like these need to be encouraged more to provide variety in cuisines in the food landscape.
The dishes are good value for money with a meal for two people coming to about R 350. A 10% service charge is already included to all bills.
Recommended.

I have always nted to try Persian cuisine and experience the culinary culture of Iran. When I found this place I s so excited to come enjoy an early lunch. My itress, Natalie, s attentive and always ready to assist. What a nice day I had at Saffron.

The worst meal I’ve ever ordered from Mr D. I will let the photos speak tor themselves. 70% of the two dishes were rice. The green (!) stew s R165 and the Barg (Momtaz) fillet steak s over cooked, chewy, and dry. R280 for the worst meal I’ve had. I gave it 1 star because 0 stars is not an option. In this economy, with delivery fee and tip of R482, you’re better off eating McDonalds.

Really enjoyed the food here - I can't complain at all about the quality and the quantity; very good value for money.
We ited a while for our food to arrive, but our hostess gave us an aubergine dip and flat bread to make up for the delay.
Will absolutely be coming back!
They are in the process of renewing their halal certification when I asked, however it is not SANHA certified.

Shocking. You never get what you ordered.
Will NEVER recommend this company for halaal catering.
It is rather disappointing that you never receive what you ordered.
It's been a week already ordering breakfast, lunch and dinner and NOT 1 order s delivered as s ordered.
Clearly how do you intend to continue operating business if you don't take care of your clients.
The problem is that we are restricted in terms of certified halaal caterers but this does not allow you to take advantage of said clients.

I sn’t even buying food here but the rude itress who s wearing a white trench coat and a black dress with a black bob wig approached us in very aggressive manner and started insulting us and ing us disrespectful and even proceeded to put her hands on me because she assumed that the conversation we were having s about her and we were laughing at her which s not the case . However, even after I explained to her that we weren’t even talking about her or laughing at her, she rallied up with another itress who has brownish braids with jewellery in her braids so they both could talk to us in an unruly manner. I am very disappointed and disgusted by the behaviour. I told her in a kind and calm manner that the conversation we were having sn’t about her but she still proceeded to be aggressive towards me and disrespected my mother. I had considered to buy food from this establishment but due to this disgusting, disrespectful and unprofessional behaviour, I will never ever set foot here because of the treatment I received just going to the store next door so I cannot expect the treatment to be better if I happen to be a customer.

It's a great restaurant with delicious persian cuisine, middle-eastern flavour, and helpful staff. The restaurant provides various types of Kebab and stews. The starters and deserts are unique and highly recommended.
All dishes are served with various sides and traditional bread.

Absolut unique and super tasty food - we order here once a week for the whole office, everybody loves your persian food.
One of few restaurants with an authentic taste.
Portions are very good and the food is very fresh and well packed ( we are collecting it ).
There is also a lovely small corner with persian food, like pickles, rice and tea that you can buy for home.
Keep it on!!!
