About this supplier

Big Six Tour Safaris offers private helicopter flights in Johannesburg alongside owner‑guided safaris and overland tours across Southern Africa. Departing from Johannesburg and Pretoria with convenient OR Tambo pickups, the company focuses on small groups and private experiences, delivering personal service and authentic travel. With over 30 years of experience and guests from around the world, they combine memorable aerial outings with in‑depth wildlife and overland journeys.

For city‑side adventures, their helicopter services include scenic city flights that showcase Johannesburg’s skyline and landmarks from above. The team also arranges private flights to the Hartbeespoort Dam area, a favourite for dramatic views and varied terrain. Romantic helicopter flights can be tailored for special moments, while dedicated aerial photography flights cater to those who nt steady, versatile platforms for capturing the city and surrounding landscapes from a unique perspective.

These private helicopter flights suit a range of occasions, from relaxed sightseeing to carefully planned romantic experiences. Routes include Johannesburg city circuits and the Hartbeespoort Dam corridor, pairing smooth logistics with striking aerial vistas. The emphasis is on privacy, flexibility within the chosen flight type and creating a comfortable environment in the air.

Beyond helicopter outings, Big Six Tour Safaris is well known for Kruger Park safaris departing from Johannesburg. Travellers can choose private lodge safaris with personalised guiding or join small‑group packages, typically running over 3, 4 or 5 days for immersive Big Five game viewing. These itineraries include guided game drives and the practical elements that make travel simple, then add expert local knowledge to maximise wildlife sightings and enrich the overall experience.

Their reach extends far beyond Kruger. Overland tours connect South Africa with Namibia, Botswana, Victoria Falls, Eswatini, Lesotho and Mozambique. These journeys blend wildlife encounters with desert and mountain scenery, coastal stretches, cultural highlights and classic African road‑trip adventure. Options range from focused routes through a single country to extended multi‑country expeditions that link iconic destinations across seven African countries.

Service style is a defining feature. Trips are owner‑guided with direct planning and personal attention throughout, which keeps groups small and the itinerary flexible where applicable. Johannesburg and Pretoria departures, together with OR Tambo pickup options, make meeting points straightforward for both international arrivals and local travellers.

Experience is backed by clear credentials. The company highlights 30+ years in operation, 1000+ safari guests and specialist knowledge of Kruger and wider Southern Africa. That foundation supports everything from a short scenic helicopter flight to a multi‑day private safari, ensuring consistency in guiding, logistics and guest care.

Whether the goal is a romantic helicopter flight over Hartbeespoort Dam, a photography‑focused aerial session above the city, a compact Big Five safari or an extended overland tour through Namibia, Botswana and beyond, Big Six Tour Safaris brings together personal service, small‑group focus and broad regional expertise from a Johannesburg base.

Terrible experience for our family (Gold Reef City) on the 23 February 2025, 3:30pm-staff working on the floor were poor communicators who made us feel like we should not be there, we had to beg for information like what time the helicopter would leave.. it s just awful... the PILOT s the rudest man we have ever met! Didn’t even bother to look at us, let alone say “HI”!! We immediately felt that he didn’t nt us there simply because of the colour of our skin. WORST experience ever!! Complete ste of our hard earned money.. This experience s WORSE because our children were with us and had to experience this nonsense customer service. HATED how we were made to feel! They lied about showing us Jo’burg view, the trip s a total 3 minutes!! What a scam!!!

I recently used Capital air for a tour of Johannesburg. They are absolutely amazing. From the beginning Mandy assisted with quotes to suit my budget, assured me of the protocols and safety and accommodated small requests to make the experience extra special. She s just amazing. The pilot Stefan s fabulous as well, he took particular care of the nervous one (me), ensuring we had a smooth and enjoyable ride. Everything s amazing to the last details. Overall friendly, welcoming, efficient and wonderful experience.
