On the 1st of May, 2025. We had the displeasure of visiting Aroma Coffee in Norwood.
We arrived at approximately 9:45am and proceed to place our orders shortly after. We noticed that the food s taking extremely long to come and also when it did, it s only one dish at a time.
My parents got their meal and finished it. Thereafter, my brother got his and finished it. All before my sister and I got ours.
We both ordered the Smashed Avo Bennie which, per their menu is "An open croissant filled with Smashed Avo, Poached Eggs & Spicy Hollandaise."
What really frustrated me s after almost 45 minutes of iting for our food, the iter comes to us and asks if they can replace the poached egg for another type of egg because their "machine which makes the poached eggs is not working."
This infuriated me, why did they it so long to ask this simple question? If they could not make the dish all they had to do s inform us beforehand. It gets worse, when the dish s finally delivered, it appeared to be a DIY meal with abominable-looking eggs and a croissant which seemed to be gashed open with no care at all. They even forgot to add the Hollandaise sauce and when we informed them of this, they brought a liquid which resembled melted butter or ghee.
We had had enough by then, we asked for the manager - a man by the name of Ahmed. He avoided us at first. After being informed by his iter again that we requested him, he still ignored the . I had to get up and head to the counter to ask for him again. After shamelessly trying to avoid all accountability - he finally arrived.
It s clear that he s aware of the mess which he served us but sent it anyways. He proceeded to offer a half-baked apology and no actual resolution at all.
If I could rate this place less than a star I would. Please avoid them at all costs. You will regret sting your time and money.
I will also be communicating this complaint to the Aroma head office.

Aroma is a great addition to Norwood and to the rooftop padel.
Cortado, ice tea s great
We had Avo on toast with a special request which s followed. We also had the chicken mayo melt and chicken paratha which were great. portion size is perfect for the location and bistro type meals. Also had the baklava cheese cake which could have been a bit fresher.
maybe a few more cake/ cup cake options to be available.
the ice cream counter gelato selection is vast.
3 of us dined and it costed R680.
will try it again, convenient and fast

Lovely setting sadly unfriendly staff at the cash register . Ice cream terrible . Pasty texture and ice crystals in Gelato. Definitely not worth it .
