About this supplier

Gerard the Clown is an established entertainment and events company built around fun, laughter and interactive children’s entertainment. The business is known for balloon twisting and balloon sculpting, as well as clown shows, magic, face painting, buskers and a wider range of performers for events of different sizes. Gerard and RD are presented as a father-and-son clown team, combining the experience of age with the energy of youth, and have been seen on SABC1, SABC2 and kykNET.

The company’s roots go back to Gerard’s early love of magic and clowning. He began performing as an amateur comedy magician at birthday parties from the age of 12, later turning professional in 1988. What started as a sideline grew into a full-time entertainment agency and then into an entertainment and events company. His son Ricky, described as one of South Africa’s youngest jugglers at the age of 11, is now part of the business leadership, making this a second-generation entertainment team.

For party hosts looking specifically for balloon entertainment, Gerard the Clown offers balloon artists and balloon sculptors who can add colour and activity to children’s parties, school events and family fun days. Their balloon twisting service sits alongside other popular kids’ party options such as clowning, comedy magic, face painting and live children’s performances, allowing organisers to build a programme that keeps young guests engaged.

The broader offering extends well beyond a single entertainer. The company’s website highlights kiddies rides, carnival rides, carnival party games, carnival foods, animals, equipment and party-related support. These services are suited to birthday parties, schools, preschools, nursery school educational shows, libraries, shopping malls, festivals, carnivals, concerts, corporate events, family fun days and larger public events. Carnival games are also positioned for corporate functions, team building and carnival-themed events.

Gerard the Clown works with a wide variety of entertainers and states that they book some of the best magicians, clowns, face painters, buskers and balloon sculptors on their books. This makes the company a useful option for organisers who nt more than one element of entertainment from a single supplier, whether the brief is a simple birthday party appearance or a bigger day of rides, games, performers and children’s activities.

The listing context places the service in Johannesburg and Pretoria, with entertainment options that include balloon twisting, balloon modelling, magic shows, clown shows, carnival games and rides, face painting, animal farms, circus acts, fun foods, stilt lkers, jugglers, petting farms, pony rides, reptile shows and related party experiences. We never knew we had a Sparrowhawk in our garden. Our sky neighbour lived in the high, silent canopy of our tall trees—a quiet sentinel we never saw. Until one evening, we found him in the driveway. Concussed. Grounded. Needing help.
Shadow, as we now him, s immediately taken by Joe from WILDSERVE, the angel of mercy who together with a team of vets, nursed him back to life. Today Shadow is back, keeping tch from up high.
Our thanks to WILDSERVE for the work they do. I encourage anyone to use their services when you have a wild animal in distress. The moment Joe arrived, I knew Shadow s in good hands. Please do support them. The work they do cannot be done without public support. Thank you Joe and team.

A truly tremendous and heartwarming experience with the Wild Serve team in eagle canyon on Sunday. The professional and successful rescue of a bird s successfully completed, it s incredible to tch and done with such palatable love and passion. This team does this for the love of what they do, not for money. They blew us away with their kindness and swift action. Thank you so much

We had a very precarious situation with a Hadeda that s stuck upside in the top branches of a tall trees. We tried ing many bird rescue services but Dirk at Wild Serve s the only one who arrived and quickly at that. Under his expert guidance and with the help of some climbers from Super Eagle tree fellers we managed to rescue the Hadeda and Dirk took it into his care. Thank you so much to Dirk and Wild Serve!

We ed to enquire about student community service at 13:50 on Feb 19th and before we could even greet , whoever answered the shouted “ when are these people going to shut up” and cut the .
The place looks lovely and what you do is amazing however whoever answers the does not seem to have a positive attitude about their job.

I s given Dirk's number in a local animal welfare group, and after trying to explain where an injured Hadeda s (in a corner of the sidewalk), he went out of his y to collect this struggling animal.

We were assisted today with a dassie we’ve had issues with for a while. We were very grateful for the knowledge that s shared regarding the dassie. A lot of effort s put into ensuring that all the potential entrances/exits of the dassie were discovered. A temporary solution s even put in place. We also had a very random incident where a huge rain spider s found while our consultation s happening and he s kind enough to assist us in removing that. We are so so grateful for the experience we’ve had so far. 🌻

A confident baby dove came into my home office, but realised there were dogs, and then tried to fly through the window. Unfortunately, my one dog s faster than me and grabbed the baby dove, injuring it. I looked after the baby for 2 days, hoping it woukd fly, but realised it had lost too many feathers and s unstable on its feet. I Googled and found Wild Serve, feeling a fool ing about a baby dove when their site has all sorts of exotic animals on, Dirk listened and s fantastic, offering to come and fetch the baby. Within 30 minutes, he s at my house, and the little dove now has a real chance of rehab and finding a new flock. Lesson learned- no creature is insignificant! They all deserve to be helped. I'm glad my heart didn't let me leave the poor injured dove in the rain to die, and grateful when Dirk told me a Baby dove is as important a rescue, as a leopard. Thank you Dirk and all who will help this baby dove. ❤️
